We’ve been planning this two-day Summer immersive for a while now. That’s including listening to community members and feeling into what we could do with so many hours together.
After months of this, the basic shape of the flow is now in place.
The Immersive allows us to drop in for an extended period of time. For those who haven’t had the opportunity to do that, you’ll find that such expansiveness is enough to radically deepen the practice.
It also means in-depth training on the mystery of Circling and how to overcome issues, spot opportunities, and make the most of your journey.
In these weeks leading up, be sure to reach out to your facilitators with any questions you have about your Circling practice. This can set you up to use the Immersive as a place to work your current questions and develop both in and out of the container.
How to Get Tickets
But the most practical question people have? How do I buy tickets, and how much are they?
We finally have an answer to that.
The immersive will be entirely free.
We will not be selling tickets. We will not be charging anyone.
There are, however, expectations. To attend, you must:
have attended (at least) one of our Circling nights
be relatively sure you can come to all of the Immersive’s practice programming (speak to us directly to request coming to only part of the weekend)
RSVP is not required, but if you know you are coming, we’d really like to hear from you to craft the best possible flow
Why Donation Based? (And Why Donation Matters)
We don’t want a single person to be excluded on the basis of money.
The most important thing for us, beyond anything else, is that you come and Circle.
That being said, we do put a lot of time, attention, money, and training into our offering. So, we will be accepting donations. Here, we’d like to break down exactly what goes into these events. That way, you can make your donation accordingly.
The immersive will involve about 10 hours of facilitated trainings and practice. That’s a cumulative 20 hours of labor just on the two days between both facilitators, not to mention the hours at the social events where we will be 100% available for further training and facilitation as needed.
Beyond that number, we also provide further support, organization, set-up, design, promotion, and preparation. This adds up fast, with The Container team putting in literally dozens of hours each.
There’s also money involved. Every hour at Ashtanga Yoga costs us $20, and we need to rent for both set-up and practice time. The space alone will be around $240. On top of that, we’ll be supplying snacks. As we all know, the number at the grocery store will probably be higher in a month and a half, but today, two days of snacks for a group runs anywhere from $30-100. Snacks also require the labor and costs of shopping and prepping.
It’s also worth considering the time and cost that have gone into training The Container team. The thousands of hours of practice. The tens of thousands of dollars in training fees. The thousands of hours creating the podcast to bring Circling education to ourselves and the world for free. The countless hours growing and running the local Circling community.
We are deeply honored to be able to give ourselves to this practice. We are humbled that we are the ones offering in Charlottesville these days. And we hope that the community can meet us voluntarily, however that feels right in anyone’s current circumstances. Hopefully this peek behind the scenes helps you right size your donation, both at the Immersive and at our regular events.
Most of all, remember: if monetary donations don’t feel possible right now, come anyways. Our top priority is for you to Circle. There is no expectation that you donate.
To those that can donate, we are incredibly grateful that you choose to support us. We want to continue bringing experiences, trainings, one-on-one development, and media to you for years to come.
After all, the more people donate, the more we are able to offer Circling to everyone free of charge.
